Tell us a bit about yourself and your farm.
My wife Annette and I are partners in Bomaz Farms along with her parents, Bob and Kay Zwald, and her brother and his wife, Tom and Ashley Zwald. We farm in Hammond, Wisconsin, where we milk 1,700 cows, raise most of our heifers and run about 2,200 acres of cropland.
Tell us why you are committed to the organization and what it means to your farm.
I believe we need a strong, active voice in Madison, along with our counties and townships, advocating for dairy. I believe I can help tell the positive story of our industry because most lawmakers are simply not familiar with today’s dairy farming. Our farm’s experience is that by actively and consistently participating in government relations, we can have a positive influence on lawmakers, which results in a better situation for us on the farm.
What are you looking forward to the most in your role on the board?
I look forward to working with the other members of the board and the DBA team. It is a great group of people who are all committed to our industry. I also look forward to the opportunity to meet with our legislators, some old and some new, at events like Dairy Day at the Capitol. As usual, we have a list of things that could be done to strengthen our dairy community, and it is up to us as dairy farmers to be the voice of milk that spurs positive change for our future!
